When the National Museum of Ireland announced they were rolling out the Irish Community Archive Network (iCAN) project in Co Cork, Donie O Sullivan called a meeting of representatives of the five communities in our parish for 3/3/2022, at which Kilshannig Heritage Society was formed.
There is such a wealth of heritage in the parish of Kilshannig, and so a parish-wide society was needed to archive what could be sourced and researched before more is lost with each passing generation.
We thank the National Museum of Ireland and Cork County Council Heritage Office for their support in setting up and maintaining this Community Archive website. We hope you enjoy what we have gathered so far.
